NFL: Who Will Have A Better Season Winston or Bridgewater?
Two veteran quarterbacks unexpectedly got named the Week 1 starters for their teams this week. Jameis Winston and Teddy Bridgewater were locked in QB battles in camp but won the starting spot. When we look back at this NFL season, which of the two will have a better year?
Jameis Winston
Winston has the benefit of already developed chemistry with his wide receivers. Unlike Bridgewater, he was a member of the team the previous season. In that season he did get some playing time when Drew Brees went down with an injury. Now he’s expected to take that same chemistry and turn it into wins. There’s no more treading water until the starter gets back. This is his shot with a team that is loaded with talent. It’s time to prove he belongs a starter in this league and finally turn a corner. He’s always had seasons where he’s showed out on the stat sheet, but he’s always balanced it back out with mistakes. If Winston wants to continue to carry the torch for the Saints he needs to limit his mistakes and win games.

Teddy Bridgewater
Unlike Winston, this isn’t his second chance. Teddy Bridgewater has bounced around the NFL a few times already and is dangerously close to being a journeyman quarterback similar to a Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s doing well enough to keep playing in the league, but never well enough to be the guy to lead the team from there on out. So far, other than his first season, he’s been a placeholder at best. He showed up in his first year with all the talent in the world. Now if he can’t get his mojo back, he might never. The Broncos have a young and energetic team with the talent to win. Now they need a guy under center who can get them to the next level and be the leader.
Both quarterbacks have an opportunity to turn a corner this year. The Saints have some of the better weapons in the NFL while the Broncos have a ton of potential. Picking one or the other, look for Jameis Winston to step up and have the better season.
