NJPW: Cody and Juice Robinson are two examples of not needing the WWE
It seems that you don’t make unless you are in the WWE. For some people, that is the case. However, you get a few people who were in the WWE and left that ended up doing better for themselves. As of now, you have guys like Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson. However, there are two wrestlers who were in WWE, left, and ended up doing better for themselves and I don’t feel they are talked about. I am talking about Juice Robinson and Cody of NJPW.
Cody is talked about, but it seems Juice Robinson is the one forgotten about it. While Juice Robinson was in WWE, he went under the name of CJ Parker. He never made it to the main roster. In fact, WWE used him mainly as enchantment talent in NXT. WWE would wind up releasing Juice because it was clear that the WWE wanted nothing to do with him.
[JonBlayneAds]After spending a few years in the indies, he would end up finding a home in NJPW. At the G1 Special in San Francisco on Saturday night, he would end up defeating Jay White for the IWGP United States Championship. The US title is the secondary title in the NJPW brand. You can make the argument that it helps you get to the IWGP title. In Juice’s post-match comments, he made a few remarks about he will never go back to the WWE. Personally, I don’t blame him. Since he left the WWE, he has done more for himself than when he was in the WWE.
Cody, on the other hand, is a different case. You have someone who made it to the main roster and did something with himself. He ended up leaving because of creative differences and ended up doing better for himself. The argument could be made with guys like Cody, Juice Robinson, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks is that you don’t need to have the WWE backing to do well. If you can work on your brand, the sky is the limit.
