NJPW: G1 Special Match Will Feature Kenny Omega and Cody
It seems that Kenny Omega has his next opponent. NJPW recently announced on Twitter that he will be defending his recently won IWGP World Title against the Bullet Club’s Cody during the G1 Special in San Francisco.

This will all go down on July 7th at the G1 Special in San Francisco, California. As many wrestling fans know, Kenny Omega recently defeated Okada at Dominion for the IWGP World Title. Omega ended the 700 + day reign of Okada.
[JonBlayneAds]This won’t be the first time that Omega and Cody locked horns. Back at Supercard of Honor earlier this year, Cody and Kenny Omega ended up battling for almost 40 minutes. Heading into that match, there were teases of tension within the Bullet Club. After that match, Kenny Omega would end up getting help from Kota Ibushi. We would see a reunion of the Golden Lovers.

After that match, we wouldn’t see these two cross paths until July 7th. Cody has become one of the best wrestlers to leave the WWE and do well on the indies. I expect their match at G1 Special to be nothing short of fantastic. What makes a match between these guys so easy is one big thing. You already have the story between them already built. However, you have one major key to look at for this match.
The biggest key to this match is what role do Matt and Nick Jackson play. They are also known as the Young Bucks and have a relationship with both superstars. They recently reunited with Kenny Omega and have helped Cody mightily. It will be interesting to see if they interfere and who they come to the aide of.
As far as this match, I suspect Omega to retain the belt. He has been built for some time and I find it very unlikely that he drops the belt.
