NJPW: Kenny Omega has dethroned Okada in another classic

When you think of greatest rivalries in wrestling , WWE is usually what comes to mind. Some of them include Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, Triple H and The Rock, and Hulk Hogan with Andre the Giant. Rarely will there be a feud outside of the WWE that was great or legendary. Some of those would include AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels in TNA, Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka in ECW, Taz and Sabu in ECW, The Fablous Freebirds and the Von Erichs in WCCW, and Ric Flair with Dusty Rhodes in NWA.

[JonBlayneAds] I mention these rivalries because there has been brewing over in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for the last couple of years and has single-handedly changed the landscape. The rivalry between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada. These guys have only had a few encounters over the years, but they make magic every time they step into the ring together. They stepped into the ring last night at NJPW’s Dominion.

This would be the fourth match between the two and the stipulation was no time limit and two out of three falls count. These two would end up going at it for over an hour and it kept you on the edge of your seat. It’s also worth noting that it was for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. A belt that Okada has held for over 700 days.

Okada got the first fall and it seemed that the same story was going to unfold. The next one would end up going to Omega. It seemed that he was changing his plan. The pinnacle of the match came for the third pin. After being tied at one pin a piece, both Omega and Okada fought to the end. They told a great story and Omega ended up getting the upper-hand. This lead to Omega finally capturing the title that has been eluding him for some time. It will be interesting to see where they go from here. I sense we will probably get another match for the title, but then what happens. Okada doesn’t need the belt anymore.

Who would be next logical option for the belt?
