We are a few days away from the start of 2020.  Since 2007, NJPW has held their annual Wrestle Kingdom event. It’s the NJPW version of WrestleMania. However, this years Wrestle Kingdom is going to be different because it’s being held over two nights. There are so many Match of the Year candidates on both nights. On night 1, we will see Lance Archer vs. Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match for the IWGP US title. In addition, Jay White takes on Testsuya Natio for the IWGP IC title, Okada takes on Ibushi for the IWGP Heavyweight title, G.O.D takes on FinJuice for the IWGP Tag Team titles,

On night 2, Zack Sabre Jr will take on Sanada for the British Heavyweight title. In addition, Juice Robinson will get the winner of Archer and Moxley, The winner of White/Naito faces the winner of Okada/Ibushi, Liger has his final professional wrestling match, and Chris Jericho takes on Hiroshi Tanahashi in a singles match. However, we would find out yesterday that there is now a new stipulation added to that match. A few weeks back, Tanahashi said that if he were to defeat Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 14 that he would ask for a shot at Jericho’s AEW title. In an Instagram post, Jericho made that official. The stipulation for the match is that if Tanahashi defeats Jericho, he will get an opportunity at the AEW World Heavyweight Title.

This is major because there’s been some rumbling of NJPW working with AEW. Although the Young Bucks shot down those rumors while they were on Twitter. While nothing has been made official to the fact of NJPW and AEW having a working relationship in 2020, there have been a few signs pointing to something big happening. NJPW and AXS TV have ended their deal. Then this stipulation was added to the match. I’m not sure to what is happening, but wrestling fans should keep their eye out.

Wrestle Kingdom 14 is in a few days away. 2020 in Pro Wrestling may out do 2019 in the first couple of days of the new year.
