NWA Powerrr: Jim Cornette resigns after making racist comments
NWA Powerr is the latest promotion in the wrestling world. In their first seven weeks of doing the TV show, there has not been anything bad about the show. While there was nothing bad on what we saw in the ring, it was what Jim Cornette said on commentary that is garnering a ton of attention. On the seventh episode of NWA Powerrr, NWA Champion Nick Aldis took on Trevor Murduch in a non-title match. Midway through the match, Jim Cornette made the comment about how Trevor Murduch could ride a bicycle through Ethopia and have a bucket of fried chicken on his back.
This caused a Firestorm within the wrestling world. It got to the point that VP David Lagana to pull the episode and edit the comment out of the show. My first question to bring up is how no one heard this comment when they were editing the show. I’m a massive fan of NWA Powerrr, i just don’t know how this could of happen. After this controversy, NWA released a statement about how Jim Cornette has resigned from his position. It seemed that this was the only option for Cornette. While he did resign, people need to remember one massive thing.
NWA Powerrr is taped until their PPV in December. So people will still see Cornette on the program for the next couple of weeks. I personally found the joke tasteless. Also, he had no remorse for his comment. Jim Cornette is someone who hasn’t evolved with the time. In 2019 and with the state of social media, people are quick to complain. I don’t blame them for doing that because it was not something you should be saying in 2019.
NWA Powerrr airs every Tuesday Night at 6:05 pm est on the NWA’s Facebook and Youtube page. It’s an hour of great wrestling.
