NXT: Takeover Chicago II Predicitions and Preview

We are two days away from WWE Money in the Bank. Prior to Money in the Bank, the superstars of NXT will take the stage for NXT Takeover Chicago II. Before I go over each match itself, I would have to say that the card looks stack. However, this shouldn’t come as a shocker because this is what happens with most of the Takeover cards.

Here are the matches that we will see and the order of how I would book it:
1 – Ricochet vs. Velveteen Dream
2 – Shayna Bazler vs. Nikki Cross for the NXT Woman’s title
3 – The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’ Reilly and Rodrick Strong) vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for the NXT Tag titles
4 – Aleister Black vs. Lars Sullivan for the NXT Title
5 – Johnny Gargano vs. Tomaso Ciampa in Chicago Street Fight

Ricochet vs. Velveteen Dream
I would have this be the opening match to get people hyped. These guys have chemistry as we saw in New Orleans and on NXT TV the last several weeks. It seems that people who face Velveteen Dream get put into the title picture right after. I sense that to be the case here with Ricochet. This will have a ton of spots and a ton of magical moments. When it’s all set and done, Ricochet will be the one to get the win. My hope is this leads to an NXT title match at Takeover Brooklyn in August.
Winner: Ricochet

Shayna Bazler vs. Nikki Cross for the NXT Woman’s title
Shayna Bazler was having an NXT Woman’s title match with Dakota Kai and Bazler was beating Kai when Cross made the save. This is the only match where there hasn’t been a ton of build. I don’t sense a title change happening. Triple H and company have been behind Bazler for the last few weeks and I don’t sense a title change happening. If they want to continue this going into Brooklyn, then have Bazler choke out Cross that she doesn’t tap ( à la John Cena passing out to Rusev at Fastlane 2014).
Winner: Shayna Bazler retains her NXT Woman’s title

The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly and Rodrick Strong) vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for the NXT Tag titles
At NXT Takeover New Orleans, we saw the shock of the night when Rodrick Strong turned on Pete Dunne to join the Undisputed Era. We would then see Lorcan and Burch team with Dunne in a six-man tag match. A few weeks later, Burch and Lorcan ended up pinning the tag champs.

While it would be nice to see Lorcan and Burch get the tag belts, I don’t sense it happening. I see Kyle O’ Reilly and Rodrick Strong retaining. However, I sense we start to see some dissension. Heading into Brooklyn, I could see a rematch between these teams. If this is a one-off match, then I sense War Raiders being next in line for the belt at Brooklyn.
Winner: The Undisputed Era retains the NXT Tag titles

Alesiter Black vs. Lars Sullivan for the NXT title
After Alesiter Black captured the NXT title at Takeover New Orleans, people were wondering who would be the first one to step up to the plate. After a few weeks of cutting promos, we were not getting answers. We finally got the answer on NXT three weeks ago and Lars Sullivan would be the one who would accept the challenge. I don’t see any way that Sullivan walks out of Chicago with the belt. I sense the next person to go for the belt will be Ricochet at Brooklyn.
Winner: Alesiter Black retains the NXT title

Johnny Gargano vs. Tomaso Ciampa in a Chicago Street Fight
If you have read my material on WBLZ within the last couple of months, you know how much of a fan I have been of this program. I feel that every week they are adding a new level to this feud to make it better. I didn’t think in all honesty that was possible. As we have seen now, Johnny Gargano’s wife, Candice LeRae, has been added to this angle as well.

These guys don’t have a wrestling match, they have a fight. With weapons being legal, one could only imagine what limits these guys will put themselves through. Also, let us not forget about that fact they will be returning to the location where this all began. I sense Ciampa will win to set up the rubber match at Takeover Brooklyn. If that is the case, I would love to see a Hell in the Cell match between these two
Winner: Tomaso Ciampa wins

How do you see it playing out Saturday night, let us know in the comments below or you can tweet them to @jon_blayne.
