NXT: Tommaso Ciampa new champion, thanks to Johnny Gargano?

The latest episode of NXT provided a moment that will further the Johnny Gargano/Tommaso Ciampa feud. During the NXT title match between Tommaso Ciampa and Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano would end up coming in. This angle was similar to when Johnny Gargano was facing Black for the NXT title a few weeks ago and Ciampa interfered. However, there’s a bit of a difference between the two angles.

In the first one, Gargano was unable to get into the match and never got the opportunity. On the other hand, Ciampa was able to get into his match with Black and some might say benefited from Gargano coming in. As we saw, Gargano would end up taking the belt and hitting Black to cause a DQ. However, Black would end up falling out of the ring and the ref never saw Gargano. He never saw him cause Ciampa threw Gargano out of the ring. Tommaso Ciampa would end up pinning Black and become the new NXT champion. However, this now begs an interesting scenario heading into Takeover Brooklyn. The WWE needs to figure out how to now mesh two storylines into one and I have confidence that they can. It may be a bit tricky, but there’s one way you can do it.

You could have Gargano go up against Black for the #1 contenders spot. However, I don’t see NXT doing that. I see a triple threat match happening. You are essentially taking care of two storylines into one. You are putting a wrap on the Gargano/Ciampa feud for starters. In addition, you are continuing the storyline between Ciampa and Black. Let us also not forget the fact that Gargano never got the opportunity for the NXT belt that he thought he earned, this takes care of that as well.

With four weeks until Takeover, the now storyline between Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, and Aleister Black will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
