NXT UK: Moustache Mountain Should Be the 1st Tag Champions
The announcement was made last week that NXT UK will air on the WWE Network this Wednesday at 3 pm et. The 3 pm et will end up being the regular time slot for the show going further. It’s worth noting that news came out today that Triple H and NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint announced that there would be the NXT UK Tag team titles. As of this writing, there has not been any further information about what teams would be fighting for the belts.
As we know, the WWE loves to have tournaments. So, I suspect that the first NXT UK Tag champions will be determined in a single elimination style tournament. Now, there would be one team that if I were the WWE, I would book to win the belts. If I were booking this, I would have Moustache Mountain become the inaugural NXT UK Tag champions. For starters, people outside of the UK know who they are because they have been on NXT. Also, they have previously held the NXT Tag Titles. If you have them win the NXT UK tag belts and Pete Dunne remains NXT UK Champion, then you can essentially make the British Strong Style a dominant force on the brand.
Also, Moustache Mountain winning the belts makes sense for another reason. You want to give the belt some legitimacy, and they give that to the belt. As of now, we don’t know who the tag teams even are on the new brand. I mention Moustache Mountain because it’s safe to say they will be apart of the show. Due to how much success Tyler Bate and Trent Seven have had in NXT, I could see the WWE giving them long reigns with the belt. This would be done until other teams establish themselves.
