Orlando MegaCon: The Charlie Cox Panel Stole The Show

Over the weekend, Florida played host to Orlando MegaCon 2018. While there was plenty of quests, comics, displays, and awesome cosplay, one panel stood out from the rest. Fresh off of wrapping Season 3 of Daredevil, Charlie Cox let fans into the life of the man who plays the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

From the moment he stepped into the view of his fans, the crowd hung on his every word. While the talk of the panel didn’t focus on Daredevil like I wished it would, we learned quite a deal about the actor. For one, Charlie Cox is nothing like the serious character Matt Murdock he plays on-screen.

One of the questions a fan asked is: “how did you get the role of Daredevil”? Charlie would explain that he had to audition just like everyone else, but he later found out that the director wanted him from the beginning. Cox laughed at the memory of him jumping through hoops for no reason. Another question was asked of which superhero would he want to play to play besides Daredevil? Cox said he would have chosen Spider-Man.

Charlie Cox Is More Than Just Daredevil

The only disappointing part of the panel was that fans were not allowed to ask questions regarding Season 3 of Daredevil. I can’t lie, this was one of the reasons why I was so excited for this panel. I remember back at New York Comic Con in October of 2017 when the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast came and we were given a glimpse of the first 20 minutes of the new season. I just knew we would get the same treatment with Charlie Cox and Daredevil Season 3. However, leave it to Netflix to crush the dreams of many in attendance.

But what we did learn is that Cox is a down-to-earth guy who just happens to play one of the coolest superheroes on either the small or big screen. He said he hasn’t seen Avengers: Infinity War but for a person who is close friends with Henry Cavill (Super Man) and Tom Hardy (Spider-Man), it was on his list of things to do.

Cox had complete control of the crowd for the 45 minutes he was on stage. A very funny guy who keep eye contact with the audience throughout the entire panel. When asked what was the difference between he and Murdock, Cox replied that Matt is more straight to the point while he uses his smile during the conversation. He said that is something he would like to work on as a person. But for me, the Charlie Cox we met at Orlando MegaCon may be cooler than Daredevil.
