Otto Porter Jr should tell John Wall, Washington Wizards to Fuck Off and sign with Sacramento Kings
There comes a time when a man must stand on his own two. The Washington Wizards may have no choice but to sit back and watch their starting Small Forward– Otto Porter Jr leave and have no one to blame but themselves. Well, not the entire team but John Wall in particular. Wall has gone on record stating the Wizards are basically a 4-man team. If that’s true then Porter must do what’s best for him and take the Max contract the Sacramento Kings offered.
“Look at our team. We are one piece away,” Wall said. “We have the point guard, we have the shooting guard, we have the center, we have the power forward. Our 3-man [Otto Porter Jr.] did great for us. You can’t take nothing away from what he did. But [George] is a guy that can guard LeBron and go back at LeBron. It’s a piece that you’re going to need to win. If you don’t have a guy who can do that, you don’t have a chance. …
No matter how the Wizards or Wall tries to spin that– it won’t look good for them.
All Porter has done for the Wizards is play hard. Imagine being Mario Chalmers on a team that features Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. This is how Porter must feel after Wall’s comments. Porter averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds in 33 minutes of action in 2016. But yet, even as the 3rd leading scorer he was often overlooked thanks in large part to Scott Brooks offense and the backcourt of Wall and Bradley Beal.
Porter averaged 10 shots per game with 4 of those from beyond the arc and finished the season as the team’s best option from long-range. The reason for that many shots at his size is due to the fact he has to take them any chance he gets. If the offense were to flow- that means he will have to wait his turn after an entry to pass to Marcin Gortat or Markieff Morris. If either player is defended then the ball may be swung to Porter. He has to take his chances when he can– damn the offense.
Porter is 6-8 and has the game of Scottie Pippen. However, Wizards fans nor his own teammates may never get to see his full potential due to the lack of exposure. Porter can snag a rebound, lead the break and finish with a powerful jam. His defense is good but not where it could be yet. It takes time for a player like him to blossom and his growth years are being wasted on a team where he’s not appreciated.
I can understand Wall wanting Paul George to join the team but Wall has to understand that he cannot throw his teammate under the bus like that. With George now traded to Oklahoma City to play with Russell Westbrook, the Wizards are now trying to play makeup and match the Kings offer. It may be too late for that.
Porter knows his worth to the Wizards even if they don’t. The Kings obviously see it and if Porter was smart he would take the Kings offer and tell Wall and the Wizards to Fuck Off.
