Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Bold Predictions For 2018-19 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles will enter the 2018-19 season trying to accomplish something they’ve never done before– defend their crown. No more celebrations as NFC East champs, the Eagles are the top dawgs in the league. After an offseason in which the main core decided to remain, is there anyone who can keep them from repeating?

Here are 3 Bold Predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles 2018-19 season.

Jay Ajayi Will Be Top 3 In NFC In Rushing

The Eagles will continue with a running back-by-committee approach as they did last season. But with LeGarrette Blount off to Detroit, the Eagles will need a prime back to shoulder the load. It’s clear the job belongs to Jay Ajayi. In 2017, Ajayi was just a change-of-pace back after coming over from the Miami Dolphins. However, if giving the opportunity, he could easily get back to the same runner he was in 2016 when he gained 1262 yards on 260 carries. Ajayi won’t get to 260 carries in the Eagles’ backfield but he has the ability to go the distance every time he touches the ball. Just think, on 70 carries for the Eagles last season, Ajayi finished with 408 yards. Top 3 in the NFC is not a pipe dream.

Nick Foles Will Be Traded

Of course, this all depends on the health of Carson Wentz. Even if Wentz is not able to start the season, he will be there before the NFL Trade Deadline. Now, with Nick Foles heading into free agency in 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles will be wise to get something in return for the Super Bowl MVP. I mean, will they actually let Foles walk away next summer without getting anything in return? With teams possibly looking for a QB of the future or in case someone gets injured, Foles will be the hottest commodity on the market.

The Eagles Will Repeat As Champions

Look around the league. Teams like the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings got stronger but so did the Eagles. Most champs lose players to free agency but the Eagles were able to retain their core while adding a few more vets to the mix. That’s almost unheard of during this era. For a team that went 13-3 during the season in 2017, what’s stopping the Eagles from being better in 2018? The New England Patriots have owned the AFC and the Eagles just defeated them in the Super Bowl. There is not a team as talented as this bunch in Philly. Aside from injuries, the only team that can stop the Eagles is the Eagles.
