Philadelphia Eagles: Does Jalen Hurts Cement His Legacy With A Win?
Now that it’s Super Bowl weekend there’s plenty at stake for the two teams participating. The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to find their place in history as the next dynasty. The Philadelphia Eagles are looking for their second Super Bowl win in five years. The difference is, the Eagles are looking to achieve it with the majority of their team being turned over from their last championship, whereas the Chiefs have most of their core players intact.
So much talk this year has been anti-Eagles. Too many talking points have been about Jalen Hurts being a “system quarterback” despite having a career year. Then after they beat the 49ers, it was “they haven’t been truly tested this year” trying to exclaim how the Chiefs were a challenge. You have to have half a brain to believe that logic, however. Yes, the 49ers were without an able-bodied quarterback in the NFC Championship game but didn’t get it twisted. The San Francisco 49ers spent most of the year as the number-one defense in the league. Philly put up 31 on them to win the game.

Okay, I’ll give you the fact that Philly produced mostly in the run game, but that speaks to good coaching more than poor performance. If it’s working, stick with it. However, make no mistake about it, if Jalen Hurts can pull off a victory against the Chiefs, people will have to show him the proper respect. Don’t try and come out with that nonsense story that Patrick Mahomes had a hurt ankle. Before that nonsense even gets off the ground, stop it.
I don’t know what the media’s obsession is with not giving this young man credit. The Philadelphia Eagles are a better team this time around under Jalen Hurts than they were with the Nick Foles-led team. I’m not taking anything away from those Eagles, they won the franchise’s first Super Bowl but this team feels more complete. That Eagles team was more fun to watch because they were considered underdogs with a backup quarterback keeping their dream alive. They had more flash, but this team is finding ways to get it done. They had the first-round bye, beat the division rival New York Giants, and beat the “expert” picks for Super Bowl favorites in the 49ers.
That’s just to start with the Hurts legacy. Keep an eye out for the Philadelphia Eagles over the next few years with picks and cap space to make their mark on the future NFL. Fail to give Jalen Hurts his credit all you want, but there’s nothing saying he won’t be a threat in the future.
