Philadelphia Eagles: How Big Is The Chip On Their Shoulders?
The only thing that can stop the Philadelphia Eagles from winning their second straight NFC East title will be health. Think back, every since Doug Pederson took over, something has always gone wrong with the team regarding health. Even with their Super Bowl victory, the team was still not 100 percent. Last season was more of the same as key players such as Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson missed significant time.
Then the playoffs. And while Carson Wentz drove the team there, he couldn’t manage to stay healthy in his most important game. The stigma with Wentz has been a what if? But what if the Eagles manage to stay healthy without any real injuries? Jackson is ready to make up for lost time. Jeffery is out to prove that he deserves to be there and Wentz, he has to show that he can stay on the field.
For the rest of the NFL, this is a problem. The Philadelphia Eagles are fighting to regain that mojo that helped them win their first-ever Super bowl but still need to calm the waters to remain a factor in the standings. The chip they have is one of respect, not desperation.
Are they a fluke? Have we seen the best they can offer? Those are the questions Pederson and his troops must continue to answer. Injuries have played a huge role the last two seasons and hopefully, they are past that now. The Eagles will enter the new season looking to stake a claim as one of the top teams in the league.
This is what will drive them in 2020. They have a huge chip on their shoulder to prove not only to themselves but the rest of the league how dangerous they can be if they can be on the field together for an entire year.
