Philadelphia Eagles Ready To Reclaim NFC East Throne

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have plans to stake its claim as the best in the NFC East division in 2020. While it seems like a tall order, certain aspects must fall into place for that to happen.

In 2019, the division finished the regular season with a record of 24-40. Add that to only one playoff team and there are reasons for fans to raise an eyebrow. However, a new season brings new possibilities and each team is in the market for a mulligan but for different reasons.

Three of the four teams will have new coaches walking the sidelines. Two of the quarterbacks are still learning and the other two have question marks of their own.

The Philadelphia Eagles will win the division as they do have the most experience of any team in the NFC East. Just a few seasons removed from a Super Bowl victory, the Eagles, despite multiple injuries over the last two years have advanced to the playoffs.

What has ailed them has been injuries to key players. Most notably, QB Carson Wentz. Last season, Wentz did manage to play all 16 regular-season games but went down with an injury in his first playoff game. What the Eagles will have to look forward to this coming season is health.

They have all the pieces in place for a strong season. The wide receivers are solid with Alshon Jeffrey and DeSean Jackson. Their TE’s are two of the best in the league and the emergence of running back Miles Sanders has the Eagles’ offense easily a top 5 unit.

Philadelphia Eagles: How Big Is The Chip On Their Shoulders?

The defense will be improved but the loss of Malcolm Jenkins may come back and bit them. But still, The Eagles’ defense while weak in the secondary, still is home to a productive front seven. The big question is what does Doug Pederson have in store for the rest of the division?

The Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins will all have new faces on the sidelines in 2020. Pederson is a great offensive mind and while Mike McCarthy surely has the tools to match wits, Pederson is more of a risk-taker and has the trust of his players. Ron Rivera is a great defensive coach but the Redskins are still a year or two away from contention.

The Giants are young and will be led by an unproven coach. The time is now for the Eagles to put some distance between them and the rest of the field. The Cowboys, despite a new coach, will still be a tough out. However, the Eagles, even with all their issue last season still managed to go 5-1 in the division including a 4-game sweep to end the season.

There is no better team in the NFC East than Philadelphia and by the end of the year, they will be crowned champs once again.
