Power

Season 6 of Power is set to be its last and rightfully so. For a show that started so strong, it sure is ending on a low note. With the Fall Break asking the question of “Who Shot Ghost” the idea was that it will pick back up full of intense episodes. Well, after episode 11, all that fans have to go on is that it’s clear that the writers forgot how to do their job.

Don’t get me wrong, a first-person account of who shot Ghost is a clever idea but the issue is that, it should have happened before the break. Why not use that approach to lead up to the shooting rather than waste the next 4-5 episodes knowing what we already know– he’s shot.

Does it really matter who shot him at this point? Sunday’s episode should have answered that question but all we got was karma for Dre and him excluded from the suspects. That still leaves Tommy, Tasha, Rashad, Tariq, and possibly Romana as the shooter.

So, now we have to sit and watch an hour of what these characters did before Ghost was taken down.

How did it come to this? How did a show with so much promise get to a point where the storyline is so dry? Now, watching Dre get what he deserved was well worth it but is that what we have to look forward to? As we eliminate the suspects, will we see each die after they heard the shot and are cleared of killing Ghost? Yes, I say killed because according to the news, Ghost was reported dead.

This season has been a waste from the moment it was revealed that Angela died from her gunshot wound. Ghost started seeing ghosts, he and Tommy want to kill each other, then they had a truce, and now they’re back to that death dance. Tasha is teaching her son the drug game and his lack of respect for his dad is so unbelievable that it’s sickening.

And how did Tasha know exactly where Terry’s body was and how the cops didn’t press that issue more? Such nonsense. Power had a chance to go out with a bang. This is one of the reasons why The Wire is untouchable in terms of storytelling. It stayed true to its roots all the wat to the last episode. Six seasons in and Power is still searching for an identity.
