Power: If Angela Valdes Is Not Dead, Was It All A Dream?
The Season 5 Finale of Power has come and gone but the last memory of Angela Valdes clinging for her life will haunt viewers until the premiere of Season 6. However, for some, that scene should be the ending of a messy love triangle. But fear not fans of Ghost and Angela, according to show creator Courtney Kemp, Angela is alive.
I can see why there would be backlash over her survival and for those who may not understand, allow me to explain.
[MarkAds]Tommy shot Angela in the chest which by all accounts should have ended her life. Now, with Tommy, Angela, and Ghost stored away in their old high school, are we to believe that there just happens to be a Hospital next door. With Ghost pawning over her, he notices his best friend Tommy is the one who took the shot. In order for Angela to live, the paramedics must be in the hallway just waiting to take her away. Anything other than that, and this is straight bogus. She should be dead off the gunshot alone.
However, with the news that she will survive, one has to wonder if this was all indeed something real or is she laying in bed with Ghost and this is all a dream/nightmare. Think about it. If Angela and Ghost wanted to meet somewhere private, why not at Club Truth, a hotel or Angela’s home where they always meet? Why did the school have to be a sacred place for this meeting? Then, to add to the mystery of the last scene was Tommy. How did he know they were going to meet?
We can go with the thought that he followed them. I can see this after he learned that Ghost basically set him up to kill his father, but still. Even that might be too much of a stretch. The only logical reason I can come up with is that Angela Valdes, Ghost or Tommy is dreaming.
Did Angela Valdes Really Get Shot?
For Tommy, a dream like this would be the ultimate payback. Ghost played him into killing Teresi, he doesn’t like Angela and he and Ghost haven’t seen eye-to-eye this entire season. Killing Angela right in front of Ghost would be the payback he is craving. For Ghost, seeing his friend commit such a horrible crime by killing the woman he loves would be the icing on the cake for the guilt he is feeling about his past deeds. With his daughter gone, wife sleeping with another man, his son hating his guts, and now Angela’s death, Ghost will have all the ammo he needs to walk away. For Angela, this is her escape as the walls are closing in on her. She wants a life with Ghost but with her career coming to an end, suicide is not the way out.
If the Season Finale of Power was indeed all a dream, some fans will feel robbed after a stunning conclusion. But, if this was the real deal, how did Angela survive this?
