Is The Predator Still Relevant in 2018? – Cavemen Radio Show

Predator

A film that has been a fan favorite for years and spawned 5 sequels and now a sixth. The Predator is back for the next generation. Originally starring a young Arnold Schwarzenegger, the original film debuted in 1987. The Predator started as a low budget film by today’s standards coming in at just over $15 million and go on to triple that at the box office and then some. While it was about an extra-terrestrial being, the tone would shift from sci-fi to suspense with the silent hunting of the rescue team.

From IMDb.com

“When a young boy accidentally triggers the universe’s most lethal hunters’ return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”

With actors Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, and Alfie Allen, director Shane Black promises to bring the Predator back to relativity. From the trailer alone, Black looks to have taken the Predator to a whole new level. What started as a sci-fi movie has grown into a niche action film that has a cult following that brings passion and excitement to the franchise.

Its been a long while since The Predator has lived up to the original film. Schwarzenegger was a mainstay of these action films in the 90s and may even have a cameo role in the film? If the film has any success it could bring a whole new generation back to the theaters. With September being not so strong in terms of competition at the box office, this film has a great shot at a decent run at the box office. The Predator hits theaters on September 14th and won’t have any real competition until Sony’s Venom due out October 5th. Will The Predator bring back the action film? Vote below![CMRickTwitter]
