Quantico: ABC Dropped The Ball Once Again By Letting The Show Go After Best Season

At some point, someone has to tell the head honcho’s at ABC Studios they know absolutely nothing about creativity, change, the build-up, and most of all, loyal fans. While Quantico has struggled as far as ratings go, Season 3 gave fans an insight as to how creative Quantico was becoming. It was announced earlier this year that ABC would pull the plug on the FBI-based show. But why?

Low ratings are always the reason but why not wait until the end of Season 3 to make sure fans truly had enough?

For the first two seasons, Josh Safran ran the show and while some of the storylines hit its mark, it also fell flat in other areas. The tired and overused love connection between Alex Parrish and Ryan Booth needed to be put to rest. The “country girl” act by Shelby was as fun as watching paint dry and the flashbacks to basic training were just dull. But the show still had potential.

It wasn’t until new showrunner, Michael Seitzman took the keys that Quantico lived up to its potential.

What made Season 3 so special was that nothing was off-limits. When season 2 ended, it was, you guessed it, Alex and Ryan on a plane together. But Seitzamn gave us something different when Season 3 rolled around. Alex was in love and was playing mommy to a little girl. Ryan was married to Shelby, Harry was still floating around and there was still Owen leading the charge.

The best move was replacing old faces with new ones like Jocelyn and Mike. Have to admit, I was a bit tired of seeing Miranda and the twins. Quantico was in need of a makeover and boy did they get one.

But this wasn’t the typical hero saves the day and all is well. Season 3 brought intrigue and death. No one was safe this season. When they went up against the Conor Devlin, Quantico became one of the elite TV shows in 2018. Family members were killed, members of the team were killed and while we did have your typical TV romance, it took a backseat to everything else. So why the fast plug.

I admit the ratings were horrible but what did ABC expect when they announced the show was being canceled before it really got started? Just another head-scratcher for the studio and another wasted opportunity for a great show reaching its full potential.

Season 3 ended in a place where it could easily pick up for another run. The team is still intact, Alex is now a full-time mother and who knows what will happen between her and Mike. It’s so many ways they can take this but instead of embracing change, ABC turned its back.
