Ring of Honor: New challenger announced for the ROH title at Best in the World
While the wrestling world has been involved with AEW, it hasn’t stopped other promotions from making news. ROH has been in the news lately because they are on the road to the Best in the World ppv happening the end of June. The 10th Best in the World PPV will emanate from Baltimore, Maryland. It’s the third time the city will be hosting the event.
As of this writing, there are only two confirmed matches for the card. ROH TV title will be on the line as Shane Taylor takes on Bandido. The other one, in my opinion, garners the most interest. ROH champion, Matt Taven will end up defending the title against Jeff Cobb. It’s worth noting that Cobb has yet to be pinned or submitted since he started in ROH. On my weekly podcast, I’ve said constantly that Jeff Cobb should be the one to take on Matt Taven. When you think of babyfaces in Ring on Honor, there are not many credible babyfaces right now. You have guys like PCO, but he defeated the other ones.
While Matt Taven has been a great Ring of Honor champion, Jeff Cobb getting a run would just elevate him to the top of ROH. I would even go as far as saying that possibly having a feud between Cobb and Taven going into the summer would be great for business. Cobb is someone who could carry the company and be the face of ROH.
