Riverdale: Will The Archie and Betty Romance Be Done Correctly?
It was bound to happen sooner or later. The writers for Riverdale are searching for a way to ship Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper before the show is over. But here is where things might get interesting. Before Season 4 had a chance to wrap, the set was closed down due to COVID-19.
That was important to the storyline because Archie and Betty were heading towards either a relationship or a fling. But with the season being cut, viewers missed out on Prom and Graduation. While the pair did have a few moments, it was almost forgotten in the last two episodes of the season.

With Season 5 expected to take a time jump much like One Tree Hill, fans of Riverdale will possibly see Archie and Betty together. While the comics have paired the two, the show went a different route. The Archie and Veronica romance has been a great fit for Riverdale while the Jughead and Betty pairing has also worked. Why mess that up?
Of course, it will make for a great storyline just to see how the two best friends will explore a new level of their friendship. The only way this would work would be due to the time jump. Trying this approach while still in high school will be met with too many obstacles.
For starters, they had already gone this route before. In a night of passion, Archie and Betty shared a romantic kiss. Both came clean to their significant others but going down this rabbit hole again will make no sense. While Archie and Veronica have had their fair share of troubles, they’ve always found a way back. And the same goes for Jug and Betty. Both romances were tested this season past season but each ended in what can be called a “good place”.

Now, with the time jump, the writers have openings to play around with. With a 5-year jump, they can say that Archie and Veronica grew apart and the same for Betty and Jug with each heading off to different colleges. Somehow, all four will make it back to Riverdale, maybe for FP’s funeral or something like that.
Then and only then would a new relationship between Archie and Betty make sense on Riverdale.
