San Francisco 49ers: Offseason Panic Mode 2021 Edition
The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the most roller coaster teams of the past few seasons. One minute they’re Super Bowl contenders, the next they’re struggling to win six games. 2020 was one of their struggling seasons but can they avoid panic mode this offseason?
Jimmy G. Is Their Guy, Right?
With Garappolo moving to San Fran, the team finally figured to have their QB of the future. But just like the team, he’s up one year and down another. Injuries had him struggling all of last season and it reflected in a tight division race. There have been multiple rumors that Jimmy could be on his way out, even one including a return to New England. Garappolo has been the victim of a poor front office and a bad break in San Fran, but the 49ers should be counting their blessings and building around him better.
Bring In Competition
The 49ers have plenty of talent to be successful. Unfortunately for them, they don’t have too many bench players pushing their talent. There isn’t a spot on their team that couldn’t benefit from competition and upgrades. They have the talent of a winner but not the heart to compete with the rest of the division. Starting from Garappolo right down to the special teams players, the Niners should kick tires on anyone who can push their starters to their full potential.

Strength and Conditioning
If there is a spot for San Fran to start this offseason, its with their strength and conditioning routine. Something had to have gone off the rails for that much talent to come down with injuries as bad as they were. Either the 49ers pushed too hard, or not hard enough. Yes the NFL is full of bruisers and teams take a bad break from time to time, but if it derails your whole season its time to have a backup plan.
Pull the Trigger in Free Agency
San Francisco has some money when it comes to free agency. With the talent they have, they not only need to go out and get playmakers, but they need a leader to come in and set these guys straight. The 49ers are a talented team but they seem to lack focus and discipline. It’s time they open their wallets and not only get a game-changer but the guy who can be the voice of the team and face of the franchise.
The 49ers can’t keep going through the rollercoaster seasons. Eventually, if they want to compete in the division they’ll need consistency and stability. Neither of those two things comes from the field. Their front office needs to get their act together to get them back on track.
