Shoresy: Questions Going Into Season 2
Shoresy was a hit for Hulu and now that the foul-mouthed hockey player is getting a season 2, there are a few things hanging from season one that we need to be addressed.
“If we lose, we fold”
How is Nat going to explain the decision to keep the Bulldogs around? The whole season was about one more loss and they’d fold, packed barn or not. They won two, won via forfeit, and lost the final game of the season. However, the plan going forward is to go all-in for the playoffs. It’ll take a little bit of creativity for the Shoresy writers on this one, either season 2 picks up where they left off and they win it all, or they lose and explain why a team with 20+ losses was worth keeping around for a handful of wins. The boys and the fans found their passion in it. Is that what was missing all along?

What’s the story with JJ/Laurence:
Everyone’s favorite potato got himself in a little bit of hot water by the end of last season. JJ was missing for the final game of the season but how will it translate on game day? If JJ is still caught up on Laurence, it doesn’t exactly bode well for him on the ice. Remember all the way to mid-season? He couldn’t score a goal until she came walking into the stands. Would he be the same player without her support going forward?
The Team Dynamic
Shoresey went all-in bringing in the veteran presence for the turnaround, but there’s a huge question mark going forward. How exactly do they handle their presence going forward? In a quick pinch, it makes sense they’d be brought in to turn the team around and stayed with Shoresy. However, if these guys are to remain a part of the cast as the show goes forward, are we all just supposed to believe they come in and stay with Shoresy each season? 5 roommates are perfectly believable but giving up everything away from hockey would be an interesting approach. It’s not completely out of the question but it’s still funny to note.
Do They Win It All?
How does Shoresy handle the relative success going forward? Either we get to see what happens in the playoffs, or they win/lose off-screen and we get the team at the start of the next season. If that is the case, there’s going to have to be something more than “Never lose again” to keep the story moving forward. The characters themselves are fun enough to keep fans engaged but, unlike Letterkenny, Shoresy has a season-long arc to keep up with each season it airs. How much more can they put together to keep the jokes coming and the story progressing?
