Six Flags Coluld Benefit From Adding Sea World Parks To The Chain

Sea World

How does a deal between Six Flags and Sea World benefit the industry? It’s been a hot button topic over the last few months. If the two sides come together, does this make Sea World parks better off? Or should the company stay far away from Six Flags?

For all intensive purposes, Six Flags is relatively good to all of their parks. You’ll have the outliers such as Six Flags America, La Ronde, Great Escape and St. Louis. Most are given a lot of attention with new rides and water park additions. With that being said, the parks aren’t as detailed as those of rival, Cedar Fair. It’s that attention to detail which makes Sea World so great.

Six Flags has a few animal exhibits in their chain. Discovery Kingdom, located in Northern California, is home to many different marine life exhibits. While it’s not on par with what you’ll get at Sea World, this still shows the theme park chain can operate a marine life park.

Some will say that Discovery Kingdom isn’t maintained (not true). That’s one opinion Six Flags can’t let get in the heads of guests with a Sea World deal. Sea World is in another league when it comes to presentation. Six Flags needs to keep that standard, despite its background as a thrill seekers paradise.

It’s no secret that Six Flags loves its thrill rides. Over the last few years, Sea World has incorporated a lot more thrills to their parks. Six Flags, who’s known for adding these kind of attractions, needs to put a big emphasis on not only the animal exhibits, but the coasters and thrill rides as well. This is the bread and butter of their business, and it’s slowly becoming Sea World’s as well.

Regardless of the new approach of Sea World, Six Flags still needs to spend on both sides. Knowing Six Flags, they’ll focus too much on thrill rides, and less on the animals. There needs to be a balance of new additions. Sea World can’t become all coasters and thrills. It’s okay to go all out for a new coaster, but make sure to follow that up with an improvement to the animal exhibits.

Any potential deal between the two sides is a big step for Six Flags and the theme park industry. Not only do you give Six Flags a bigger piece of the theme park market in the North America, Sea World Corporation finally gets the backing and money it needs.

We’ve seen a big resurgence from Sea World as of late. If Six Flags buys them out does this make the parks better off? That’s hard to say. We do know that Six Flags will add something new every year. It’s just impossible to know whether this a good idea until it happens. That’s looking like a long shot every day.
