Six Flags Discovery Kingdom: V2 Might Undergo A DC Makeover

Will Six Flags Discovery Kingdom be re-themeing V2? That’s a distinct possibility, as the park looks to re-brand a portion of their park to strict DC. It’s a step in the right direction for Discovery Kingdom.

V2 has been closed for the last 4 months. The coaster is undergoing some maintenance to the trains and track. The potential re-theme might be another cause for this. The rumors of Six Flags putting a DC Comics character front and center are really heating up.

If they go this route, a theme to Boy Wonder Robin might be in order. Six Flags (to my knowledge) has no rides themed to Robin. With Batman being built and Joker next door, this just adds to the Batman and DC Comics mystique.

V2 (Vertical Velocity) is another Intamin Impulse coaster. There are quite a few of these in the world. The most famous being Wicked Twister at Cedar Point. Six Flags also features a few at other parks (Six Flags Great America). While a short ride, they are extremely fun.

Six Flags isn’t known for their themeing. Adding a name and giving a new paint job to a coaster won’t make the area of Discovery Kingdom look any better, but, it’s all about the continuity. Making all of the rides in the DC section of the park DC related gives the area of the park a more consistent look.

A little more themeing would be nice in the area. Discovery Kingdom is one of the many Six Flags parks to build up the DC area. There are some, such as Six Flags Great America, which have DC rides at opposite ends of the park. Obviously, this section of the park won’t look like Metropolis or Gotham, but atleast the DC Comics universe is well represented.

There’s a lot of potential in themeing V2 to DC. It kind of sticks out, and not in a good way. A simple name change can do a lot for the rides popularity. With Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s dedication to making the DC portion of the park a reality, this is the next logical step in accomplishing that.
