Sorry, Kofi Kingston Isn’t Main Event Material

Don’t be upset at Vince McMahon for taking Kofi Kingston out of the World Title match at Fastlane. Kofi isn’t a long-term answer for WWE. He’s simply just the WWE flavor of the week.

Let me start by saying, I’m a big Kofi fan. When he had his World Title push against Randy Orton many years back, I was all for it. McMahon ultimately pulled the plug on that push due to Orton’s displeasure. So, I’m glad Kofi has gotten so much love and admiration from the WWE Universe as of late.

Here’s the kicker, though. Kofi Kingston isn’t a main event act. Kofi just doesn’t scream, “Main Event.” He’s not an act that McMahon can build around. To be honest, Kofi is only exciting because of the New Day.

It’s hard to not want Kingston as champ. He’s had some of the best matches in recent years. With that being said, a lot of the WWE Universe aren’t looking at the bigger picture. It might be nice to have Kofi as champ on paper, but, will he draw ratings? Again, you’ve got the New Day, although, Kofi might be the least charismatic of the three.

Actually, let’s take the New Day out of this. Do you honestly think Kofi is an exciting WWE World Champion? His matches have been great, does he have the “it” factor? You really can’t say yes to that question.

Don’t be mad that Kevin Owens took Kofi’s spot. Fact is, Owens is a much better talker and wrestler. That’s where a lot of Kofi’s weakness lies, his promo work. Owens and Bryan kill it on the mic. Kofi usually talks the least out of everyone on the New Day.

Give McMahon and WWE credit. They’ve successfully built up Kofi over the last month. It was unintentional for sure, but, it’s worked. However, we all know this run isn’t sustainable. Kofi Kingston isn’t a main eventer. Don’t blame Vince McMahon for exposing the truth.
