Squid Game: 2 Major Questions Heading Into Season 2
Since its release on Netflix in September, Squid Game has taken the world by storm. This is nothing new for Netflix but they haven’t seen anything like this, ever. Squid Game became their most-viewed show ever and rightfully so. With Season 1 finished, fans are wondering if there will be a Season 2? There has to be. If all is right in the world, Squid Game has to return for an encore.
But if it does, how can they shock the world again? Better yet, will the writers choose to focus more on storylines than the actual games as they did in the first season? With the way things were left at the end of Season 1, it appears that champion Seong Gi-Hun will return but possibly not in the same capacity he did as a player.
Here are 2 major questions heading into Season 2 of Squid Game.
Is Hwang Jun-ho (Cop) Dead
For much of the season, there was an intruder at the games. No one knew who but it turned out that Hwang Jun-ho was a cop. It wasn’t too much of him trying to take down the organization but more of him on a personal mission. With news that his brother participated in the prior Squid Games, Jun-ho went to see what happened to his brother. However, he was in for a rude awakening.
When the showdown occurred between Jun-ho and the Front Man, the scene became a bit eerie. There was something indeed there. As it turns out, the Front Man and Jun-ho are brothers. He’s the one the Detective went searching for.
During their confrontation, guns were drawn with Jun-ho taking the first shot and hitting his brother (Front Man) in the shoulder. The Front Man returned fire but instead of killing him with a head or chest shot, the cop was hit in the shoulder and sent off the cliff into the ocean.
All fans saw was the aftermath of the splash but we never saw a body. The Front Man is a killer with no remorse. So why not go for the kill shot there? Is Jun-ho dead? Did he survive the fall? It was only a shot to the shoulder and the fall was not high enough to cause death.

What’s weird is that there was no search for the body. Could Jun-ho make a return in Season 2 to either take down his brother or persuade him to leave the organization?
Will They Let Seong Gi-Hun Play
At the end of season 1, Seong Gi-Hun made a call to the game controllers. At that point, he was given the advice to keep moving forward with his life. However, Gi-Hun, decided to go against that advice and warned that he was going to take down the Squid Game. So, what does that mean for his character moving forward? Will he be allowed to participate in the games again or will he take on the role of hero and try to take them down without playing?
This makes for an interesting storyline. If he is given the chance to defend his crown as the last winner, how will that affect the game controllers and their plans? Will they be willing to let a champion play again? If so, wouldn’t that bring more money to pot when the VIP gets wind that a former winner is back in the fold?
Think about the other contestants. If Seong-Gi-Hun survived the first set of games and walked away a rich man, wouldn’t it be smart for other players to want to team up with him in the next go-round of events? Gi-Hun is there to save lives. But will that change once the game starts? Remember, just like himself before he won, he was in it for the money until the end.
Would he be able to convince the new contestants to walk away from the pot? To be honest, trying to take the game down from the shadows would not be a good storyline. Instead, the writers should throw him back into the games and risk it all with his character.
