“Detective Jake Peralta, a talented and carefree cop with the best arrest record, has never had to follow the rules too closely or work very hard. That changes when Ray Holt, a man with a lot to prove, becomes the new commanding officer of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct. As Holt reminds Peralta to respect the badge, an extremely competitive colleague – Detective Amy Santiago – starts to close in on the hotshot cop’s arrest record. Other members of the precinct include Sgt Terry Jeffords, a devoted family man, Detective Charles Boyle, a hard worker who idolizes Jake, and Rosa Diaz, a sexy-yet-intimidating detective. Civilian office manager Gina Linetti is tasked with cleaning up everyone’s mess, while somehow getting involved in everyone’s business.”

Current fans of the show were heartbroken when the show was briefly canceled a couple of years back and now it seems as strong as ever. The best part about Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the huge cast and how seamlessly they all work together. Seven seasons in and not only does the show still get laugh after laugh but the cast still has the majority of their original cast.
To have such a long-standing cast, who play off each other so well, and interact so believably in a scene is a gift. Shows have a history of keeping certain characters out of scenes together simply because they do not mesh well. For sitcoms to last as long as they do, they often shuffle cast and stories.
This is where Brooklyn Nine-Nine shines, not by a revolving cast but a series of great guest stars and reoccurring roles. Each character not only shares similarities with the actors that portray them, but they also separate them flawlessly as well. The ability to see these characters as real and believable workplace staples makes the show go from funny to hilarious more often than not. If you’re looking for a good stay in the binge-worthy show, then start with Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
