Superman Ultimate Flight Fits Right In At Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Superman Ultimate Flight

Premier Sky Rockets are very similar coasters. Some of these in the United States are Electric Eel (Sea World San Diego), Tempesto (Busch Gardens Williamsburg), Tigris (Busch Gardens Tampa), and the one I’ll be talking about, Superman Ultimate Flight (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom). While Superman isn’t the longest ride, it really packs a serious punch.

A lot of Six Flags parks have Superman rides, however, most are flying coasters. This Sky Rocket is a bit different. It’s a launch coaster which shoots you up 150 feet. These are pretty intense rides, especially sitting in the back.

What makes a Sky Rocket so different? For starters, it takes about 30 seconds for the ride to get going. Your initially shot up into a twist. You’ll then be brought back down through the station into a non-inverting loop. Finally, you’re thrust forward again through the station into the ride.

On this coaster, you’ll go through a 150 ft. tall heartline roll. This is one of the tallest inversions in the world. You’ll then go through a few other turns and twists, enter into a half loop (non-inverting), and then return to the station. It’s worth noting there a few times the ride comes to almost a pause. It’s a nice touch because the suspense of what happens next can be a bit tense.

Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom isn’t a long coaster by any means. That’s good because wait times can become quite lengthy. The issue is, there’s only 1 car on the track. This can make wait times feel like an eternity. The coaster can only seat 12 riders at once.

Once on the ride, you’ll get the best experience at the front or back. If choosing between the two, you want to go back. As mentioned before, the back is a really intense ride. You’ll get a lot of airtime. The issue is, you will slam your back and head on the seat at one point of the coaster. That whiplash moment doesn’t feel too good on anyone.

As for the station and entrance plaza. When you make your way into Superman Ultimate Flight, you’ll see the rides sign, a painted mural on the ground, and some standing signs of some of Superman’s greatest villains. The loading station of the ride is themed yellow, red, and blue. There’s even a giant Superman painting on the wall of the exit walkway.

If you’ve done one Sky Rocket, you’ve probably done them all. You go on different versions of these coasters for the themeing and views you get at the top. Superman Ultimate Flight is another great coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It’s also right next to the Joker, Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster, and Wonder Woman Lasso Of Truth, so you can get right on those after Superman.
