Ted Lasso: 3 Characters Who Could Support a Spin-off

cast of Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is full of so many great characters it’s going to be hard to see them go. While there are no official plans for a spin-off and while they rarely succeed, there are a small handful of characters who could keep the good times rolling. Of course, these are largely dependent on how the series ends, but for starters:

Keeley:

Keeley Jones’ PR firm is a gold mine for its own spin-off. Her character alone has such a presence that people are drawn to her. Even the ones who loved and lost, Roy and Jamie, can’t seem to walk away. A series where Keeley takes on a bunch of sports celebrities in search of a way to improve their tarnished image, there’s a good chance people would watch that. Start the first episode with Jamie Tartt. He hires her to help him as she knows him the best, and she restores his image as a failed celebrity and cultural icon.

New Rebecca aka Bex:

This is probably the easiest way to keep Ted Lasso going, even without the main character in Ted. We’ve already seen an episode where there is a wedge drawn between Bex and Rupert. She’s throwing subtle jabs and him. He’s getting handsy with his assistant. If at the end of the series, Rebecca Welton sells the team to Bex as a way to get back at Rupert, the team and characters are free to go on, without Ted. She could hire Roy as the coach, Beard stays as his assistant, let Jamie be his star player, and keep the majority of the cast still going. Call the show We Are Richmond and you wouldn’t even have to change the popular hashtag that’s been seen throughout the series.

Trent Crimm:

This one would be a bit tricky. With Apple TV’s push into sports, what better way to promote it than a character who fans have slowly grown to love? Imagine a show Trent Crimm: Independent, where a fake journalist goes around and interviews real athletes. Apple needs more content for its sports-related media and what better way to engage fans than with such a recognizable character?

Whatever the end game is, we’re not ready for Ted Lasso to end. Apple needs to take charge and keep the good times rolling. Ted Lasso could wrap up all necessary stories and fans would get more of the series they’ve grown to love.
