Ted Lasso: Binge-Worthy or Cringe-Worthy
Apple Tv+ continues to churn out quality programming with their latest comedy Ted Lasso. While they’ve been stocking up on movies and shows, the streamer is still trying to find their footing.
From Google.com
“Small-time football coach Ted Lasso is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.”
Starring Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso is this generation’s Major League, but with soccer. A former American football coach relocates overseas to coach a football team. Apple TV+ has been investing heavily in their comedies and this is another delightful surprise.
Ted Lasso has only released their first three episodes, but already has a stronger footing than some comedies out on the market. While the worst to the first plot has been done to death in the sports world they’re typically reserved for one and done movies.
Is it the funniest show you’ll ever watch? No, but if you’re a long time fan of Jason Sudeikis this will be right up your alley. With shows like Central Park, Trying, and Mythic Quest: Ravens Banquet so far Apple knows comedy. Already there are characters you root for, hate, and deliver well-timed laughs.

But what if you don’t know soccer? That’s fine. Ted Lasso isn’t the sports movies that have to feel historically accurate. Instead of focussing on sports fans, the new comedy focuses on just that, the comedy. You don’t have to know the exact terms as they’ll walk you through them. Because it’s in the United Kingdom there are plenty of language barriers that become punchlines as well.
Ted Lasso is only three episodes in but we already can’t wait for another one. The one missing piece that Apple TV+ needs to figure out is the promo trailers for next week’s episodes.
Network television will always have the next episode promo after each episode, so why can’t streaming services figure it out as well. They have the thumbnail for the episode so link it to a video and boom taken care of. Ted Lasso, so far is 100% a binge-worthy show. If you have Apple TV+, its definitely worth checking out.
