Ted Lasso: These Characters Didn’t Make Sense
Season 3 of Ted Lasso left fans disappointed for many reasons. Some thought Ted and Rebecca were going to get together. Others were disappointed when Richmond didn’t “win the whole f–ing thing”. Yet there were parts of season 3 that didn’t quite make sense at all:
Zava
Zava left as quickly as he came and his story had little substance. You could argue his purpose was to make Jamie jealous and thus make him want to be better. However, that was a story that could’ve existed without his character. This is a story that could’ve been pushed by the jealousy we see between Jamie and Roy over Keeley. Of course, that would destroy their bond in season 3 but play it out as if Jamie feels he’s not good enough and it’s still the same story.

Jack
Jack was part of season 3 of Ted Lasso to let Roy know what he was missing out on. In the end, he and Keeley didn’t even end up together so that realization didn’t make sense either. Their story was another one that could’ve been completed with the cast they currently had. After Jamie confessed his love in season 2, all it would’ve needed was Keeley and Jamie to start hanging out again and Roy would’ve seen just what he was missing out on.
Shandy
Shandy didn’t fit in season 3 either. She was there to show Keeley just how troublesome being a woman in power could be. Yet another story that could’ve been completed with their current cast. It would only take a few trips to meetings and goings on with Rebecca for Keeley to see the struggle of being that high up the ladder.
Maybe it was because the show was winding down, but adding three new characters to Ted Lasso who didn’t really have an endgame seemed silly. Not only did the story seem out of place, but if you removed them from it, nothing would’ve changed. Jamie was still on the way to redemption. Keeley, Roy, and Jamie still could’ve advanced in their triangle. Keeley would’ve still struggled with the weight of her own success. None of these characters needed to be there despite how well the actors did with the characters.
