The Blacklist: Raymond Reddington Can’t Kill Aram Because Of Liz
It’s safe to say that Season 9 of The Blacklist has not gone as planned, especially for fans. With Liz supposedly dead and Megan Boone leaving the show, the storyline has taken a departure from what made the show so appealing since its premiere. As with each new episode, fans are on the edge of their seats just waiting for things to get back on track.
What has transpired this season has been a mixture of forgetfulness and bad writing. However, ‘Helen Maghi’ sort of got everything back on track. This episode was not about a particular blacklister but an in-depth look at one of the key relationships on The Blacklist.
With Harold Cooper on trial for his life, he turned the keys to the Post Office over to Aram. By doing so, that placed Aram in a tight spot. His biggest worry was giving commands to his peers but soon we would see that his biggest concern is Raymond Reddington. While Cooper ran a tight ship, there’s no denying that he often looked the other way when it concerned Reddington. This is something that Aram was not willing to do.

Aram has a moral compass and his display of that crossed a line with Reddington. This is not the first time the two have butt heads but this is the first time that Reddington has laid down a death threat towards Aram.
Red is a dangerous man but when it comes to certain people, he has a soft spot. Aram is one of those people. Despite Aram stealing Red’s money and his current betrayal, Red will not harm Aram. The reason for that is Liz and Agnes. Liz loved Aram. Not in a romantic way but more like a brother and sister type relationship. Even though Liz is gone, Red killing Aram is not something Liz would have wanted. And for that alone, Red backed off. As he told Cooper, this is something he kills people over.
But Red killing a member of the team is not in his best interest. If that was the case, Donald Ressler would already be dead. Red has to play this smart. His emotions are all over the place but it’s also clear his feelings towards Aram are genuine. Aram respects Reddington but even he has his limits.
How will this affect their relationship moving forward has yet to be seen. But one thing is for certain, it will cause plenty of tension between the two. Not too many people receive a pass from Raymond Reddington and thanks to Liz, Aram can add his name to that very small list.
