The Cleveland Cavaliers are feeling the karma from the LeBron James, Miami Heat era
It started as a rumor but it turned into reality quick. LeBron James was leaving his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat. After spending 7 seasons with the Cavs and reaching one NBA Finals, he felt enough was enough and sought after talent that could help him reach G.O.A.T. status. But in order to do so, he had to at least capture 5 championships.
What made this pairing so iconic was the fact that the Heat would have 3 players in their prime unlike the Boston Celtics before them that came together when Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce would join forces on the tail end of their careers. The NBA never seen anything like this before and they were pegged to begin a Dynasty. The Heat played in 4 straight NBA Finals, winning just 2 before LeBron decided he wanted to head back home to Cleveland and start another Big 3 with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
Three years later, this same Big 3 has made it to 3 straight Finals. I guess LeBron is a prophet of sorts, however, there was a risk that no one saw coming until this year.
NBA fans were in an uproar when the Heat took the NBA by storm. How can any team beat the Heat that had not 1, not 2, but 3 All-Stars playing the best ball of their careers? LeBron James, Wade, and Bosh took it all in stride with laughs and rings but the rest of the league were watching, just waiting until their time came. However, it didn’t come until 2016 when Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder to join a Golden State Warriors team that had just won 73 games the previous season.
Fans can be mad at Durant, but some are excited that LeBron James is catching karma.
He started this. He wanted more and went for it not once, but twice. The same fans that hated on him for his decisions are the same that’s hating on Durant. Should we feel bad that his Cavs are down 0-2 against this powerful Warriors team? No. Did the Heat feel bad when they were doing the same during their run? No. It was all laughs and jokes but now that the shoe is on the other foot, LeBron is feeling the pressure. He now knows what the Thunder and San Antonio Spurs felt like when they lost the championship to the Heatles.
What comes around goes around just doesn’t apply to everyday life. It obviously applies to the sports world as well. Sorry LeBron, but you brought this on yourself. All I’m hearing is ” not even Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls could beat these Warriors”. That may be true but Jordan would not have joined forces with Magic Johnson or Larry Bird either to pad his stats.
“What else is LeBron James supposed to do going against 2-former MVP’s and 4 All-Stars”? Once again, this is all his doing. He set the trend, won his rings and the NBA just sat and watched. Did he really not think teams and players would not find a way to make him pay for his actions? Durant just pulled a LeBron and the Warriors became the new-age Heat.
Take your losses like a man LeBron. You have no one to blame but yourself and the Miami Heat.
