The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion Was Exactly What We Needed
HBO Max finally released the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion to fans’ delight. While The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air only ran for six seasons, it would go on to be universally loved and was groundbreaking for its time. NBC first aired the Fresh Prince back in 1990 but stuck with many of us for years.
From Google:
“Will Smith more or less plays himself in this good-natured NBC sitcom. As the show’s popular theme song explains, fictional Will’s mom sends him away from his rough Philadelphia neighborhood to live with wealthy Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian in Bel-Air. Will often has fun at the expense of stuck-up cousins Carlton and Hilary.”
HBO Max brought the Reunion special for fans to stream on November 19 and it brought back everything we loved about the show. While it was just a sit down with the cast of the show, they brought back stories and favorite episodes just enough to engage fans and get that little bit of nostalgia we all need during these trying times.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion wasn’t without its touching moments. With the cast sharing their favorite memories of James Avery and getting behind-the-scenes stories there was plenty of tears to go around.
What made TFPoBA so heartwarming and ahead of its time was the cast and their chemistry. Not only did they play so well off of each other, but the believability of their closeness also came off naturally. What played perfectly for the audience was Will’s dynamic from Philly to his family from Bel-Air, they represented both without the slap you in your face morals that insult the viewer.
The Fresh Prince was so memorable by delivering hard-hitting moments that came off so naturally and hit your right in the feels. Despite all the struggles of 2020, that’s exactly what fans needed. Even though there are some emotional tear-jerking moments in the Reunion Special we needed to be reminded of the simple things we enjoyed while growing up.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air might be back with more than just a reunion. Back in September, Will Smith announced that there would be a reboot for NBC’s Peacock streaming service. Can they capture the magic of the original? Fans sure hope so.
