The Sacramento Kings Can Finally Close The Book On The Willie Cauley-Stein Era

Williw Cayley-Stein

We know Willie Cauley-Stein isn’t going to be a member of the Sacramento Kings next year. He’s run his mouth, shown little consistency, and doesn’t hustle. His latest comments have left many dumbfounded and at a loss for words. What’s his motive behind the recent remarks?

“I can’t wait to get out.”

These comments by Willie Cauley-Stein, given at the end of the team’s loss to Rockets on April 2nd, might be taken a bit differently than he intended. While most thought Willie wanted out of Sacramento, he was referring to getting out of the locker room for the night (that’s what we were lead to believe). I don’t find this to be true in the slightest.

We know Willie Cauley-Stein to be a bit erratic and unhinged when it comes to comments to the media. He’s got no real filter. While there’s no reason to not think he’s not implying leaving Sacramento, there’s no reason to believe he isn’t. It doesn’t matter what he wants us to think.

Cauley-Stein can clarify the comments all he wants. The Sacramento Bee can retract their statements on a story about his remarks. Whatever you want to believe. We know he wants to get out of Sacramento. Maybe not the city itself, but away from Joerger, Divac, the media trying to figure him out. The fact is, Cauley-Stein wants out of Sacramento.

He’s looking for a fresh start. That’s probably best for him at this point. Most Kings fans have very little interest in seeing Willie Cauley-Stein back next season. The feeling is probably mutual. He’s sick and tired of the ridicule from the media and the fanbase. Let him deal with it in another city.

We know what Cauley-Stein brings to the table. He’ll go off for 18 points and 12 rebounds one night, then follow it up with 6 and 7 the next. The inconsistency is just too much to deal with. If he showed effort every game, perhaps fans and media would give him the benefit of the doubt when making these comments. Some might actually care if he were to leave in free agency.

Unfortunately, nobody believes Willie Cauley-Stein when the media or fans twist his words. He’s made so many questionable remarks. There’s no reason think we’ve had him wrong the whole time. His attitude and body language towards this Kings team isn’t positive. Fans can take these comments and form their own opinions. It’s pretty easy to see his true intentions.

Let Cauley-Stein deny all he wants, say his comments were twisted around. He’s done enough damage. The Sacramento Kings need to make this a clean split in the off-season. There’s too much drama when it comes to him. Let Willie Cauley-Stein be someone else’s problem.
