The Sacramento Kings Can’t Entertain The Idea Of Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis makes little sense for the Sacramento Kings. The Kings have come out and said they aren’t interested. Knowing Vlade Divac, you’ve got to expect some interest. It’s really in his best interest to stay far away.
It’s widely known around the league that the Kings want to be contenders. Anthony Davis makes them a legit favorite for this year and next. Davis, who once again made the All-Star team, is widely considered a top-5 player in the league. Sacramento would need to give up a lot to get him. It is not worth the investment.
The Kings don’t have much to offer New Orleans. Aside from Zach Randolph, Iman Shumpert, Nemana Bjelica, and Willie Cauley-Stein, the Kings would be wise to not trade any of their core. Sacramento doesn’t own their first round pick in 2019, so that’s a strike against them.
Sacramento needs to not trade Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harry Giles, Marvin Bagley, and Justin Jackson. They are all too valuable. The alleged Los Angeles Lakers offer of Brandon Ingram, Ivaca Zubac, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and a first-round pick, might be offering too much. If that’s what the Kings need to do it’s not worth it.
Sacramento Kings fans would be ecstatic to take on Anthony Davis. The Kentucky product is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks. Current starting Center, Willie Cauley-Stein, doesn’t stack up to those numbers. It’s scary to think how good the Kings would be with Davis. Again, they can’t make a competitive offer.
To top the Lakers offer, Sacramento would need to offer up a package of Buddy Hield or Bogdan Bogdanovic, Harry Giles or Marvin Bagley, De’Aaron Fox, and a future 1st round pick. That’s probably not going to be good enough. In fact, the Kings might need to throw in Cauley-Stein as well. Perhaps New Orleans include Elfrid Payton, that’s all you’re getting.
Giving up that much won’t make the team better. The alleged offer might seem excessive, but, if the Lakers are indeed offering the aforementioned trade, that’s what the Kings need to do. It doesn’t make sense. The offer would be quite ludicrous if you’re the Kings, especially because you know Davis isn’t re-re-signing after the 2020 season.
Getting a player like Anthony Davis would help any roster. Giving up the bulk of your core isn’t the way to go about it. You’re giving up too much, despite how good Davis is. It’s nice to think about Anthony Davis a member of the Sacramento Kings. That’s all you’re going to do, though.
