The San Francisco 49ers Have Already Failed Jimmy Garoppolo
Those were the words many were speaking at the end of the 2017 NFL season.
When Garoppolo took over the quarterback situation for the 49ers, they were 1-10 and headed for the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In his five starts, according to Sports Reference, Garoppolo has passed C.J. Beathard and Brian Hoyer in yards passing, touchdowns, and completion percentage. I repeat, he has done that in less than a handful of games. But beyond the stats is the fact that the San Francisco 49ers went 5-0 under for the former Tom Brady understudy.

The 49ers elected to let Hyde go and signed Jerick Mckinnon, however, he’s not that bruiser that Hyde was. While the running game may still make its mark, the one area where the San Fransisco 49ers were expected to make a huge splash was wide receiver. With so many talented players available, the Niners walked away empty-handed. With the likes of Jarvis Landry, Jordan Matthews, Jordy Nelson and more available, the 49ers will head in Training Camp with Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garcon. Even with rumors circulating that the New York Giants were interested in shopping Odell Beckham, the 49ers held their ground.
Why Did The 49ers Just Sit And Wait This Offseason?
While Jimmy Garoppolo may have turned heads in his five starts, the 49ers must know that teams will be gunning for them now. With no top-notch offensive additions, what we saw at the end of the 2017 season, we may not see again.
