Now that the calendar has shifted over to September it means there’s good news on the horizon. For all the loyal This Is Us followers, its finally here. Summer might be coming to an end but your fall lineup is inching closer and the 24th of September has been highlighted on your calendar since the last season ended. Then of course, there was the bad news that the show was ending. No not after last season, but that they in fact have an endgame in sight and that the show would last just three more seasons.

But it’s not all bad news for This Is Us fans. After a few surprise guest appearances, there’s plenty of intrigues thrown into this season. From the trailer alone we see the likes of Jennifer Morrison, Omar Epps, and M. Night Shyamalan. Long-time House watchers will recognize at least two of those names. Morrison and Epps were main characters throughout the eight-season run of the former medical drama. Out of 176 episodes, the duo appeared in 130 and 174 respectively leaving us to wonder if their stories will intertwine on screen. Will the two share screen time based off work, or will their stories stand-alone sharing coincidence and nothing more.

Particularly we’re excited to see where Jennifer Morrison fits in the This Is Us overall scheme. Between her roles on House, How I Met Your Mother, and Once Upon A Time she’s been a heavy part of our viewing rotation. From a drama to a comedy, to a fantasy its not as if she’s played the same character in each of her roles. Clearly based on the trailer her character has a military background, which throws us back to the days of Jack’s time in Vietnam. However, the brief clip looks more modern so our curiosity is peaked.

In its fourth season, we’re passing the halfway point of the show. Now that there’s an official end date it will be easier for the writers not to paint themselves into a corner. The back half of their story ought to kick the series into high gear with no shortage of tear-jerking moments and worrisome finales. Enjoy the final days of summer, the 24th and This Is Us will be here soon enough.
