Titans: Episode 4 titled “Aqualad” Leaves us With More Questions

DC Universe’s TItans

Season 2 of Titans has been a welcomed improvement from season 1. Shifting from the younger iteration of the team to a more classic version has added much-needed depth to our title characters. This season has focused more on Dick Greyson and his failed attempt at establishing the Titans as heroes. Season 2 takes us back to show why Dick has thrown away his former alter ego and distancing himself from his former mentor. Four episodes in and we’ve got more questions.

If you haven’t seen Titans episode 4 titled “Aqualad” then stop watching here and come back when you’ve finished.

How much of the Dick Greyson/Dawn relationship will we dig into?

Early in the series, we see the duo of Hawk and Dove, but how did we get here. “Aqualad” flashes back to the time when Dick and Dawn were a pair. Will they dive more into what broke them up? Will it show the divide between he and Hank and why Hank still stuck around? Something huge had to happen to break Dick and Dawn up and even bigger to have Hawk and Dove stick it out with the team.

What’s Dick’s plan for Jericho?

At the end of the episode, we see Dick walk into a recorded store and encounter Deathstroke’s son, Jericho. The obvious question is what’s Dick’s play here. However, the less than obvious question is where is this in the timeline. Is this a flashback to his earlier days with the Titans or is this his ace up the sleeve knowing Deathstroke is back in play?

If this is his current play it’s an insurance policy for the Titans to keep him at bay. If it’s a prior story, then revenge is on the table for the younger Dick Greyson.

What is Deathstrokes Connection to Doctor Light?

Both times we’ve seen Doctor Light, there’s also been a hint of Deathstroke lurking around. Are the two connected or is it strictly a coincidence? Is Deathstroke using Doctor Light as a distraction or are the two genuinely connected?

Aqualad why was he the target and not the other Titans?

Towards the end of the episode, we see Donna Troy’s heartbreaking loss when Aqualad is shot through the chest by Slade but why was he the target? Why were the other Titans not in his crosshairs? And who hired Deathstroke to take out Garth? Was it to play mental chess with Dick Greyson who was the team leader?

Titans has a whirlwind of stories to come. The obvious run in with Deathstroke in the previous timeline and one in the current. Will it be the Dick Greyson of old or will we get to see the new and improved Nightwing who gets the drop with his new team of heroes? Season 2 continues with episode 5 titled “Deathstroke” on Friday.
