Tom Holland Would Bring Indiana Jones Back to Life

Tom Holland as Indiana Jones?

Tom Holland burst onto the big screen as everyone’s favorite web-sling, Spider-Man, in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. The movie would go on to make Holland a household name, starring in the Spider-Man franchise for the Sony/MCU shared project. His unique sense of timing, humor, and energy gives a sense of relatability to viewing audiences. Those qualities put him on the path to be a huge star of the future. Despite being tied to an already huge franchise in Spider-Man we’d like to see him part of another franchise, Indiana Jones.

With an upcoming project Uncharted on his plate, the treasure hunter roll is already on his plate. However, a prequel series to the video game franchise, it doesn’t look to be a multi-film arc. Disney on the other hand could keep Tom Holland in the mix with Indiana Jones.

Starring opposite of Harrison Ford in the next installment could open up a few different routes for the transition. While they’re action films, they use a wide range of supernatural elements as well. Between Nazis, Sankra Stones, and Aliens adding elements of time travel or a Fountain of Youth plot to transition to a younger Indiana Jones wouldn’t be too hard in the realm of possibilities.

The last Indiana Jones film Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, cast Shia Labeouf opposite Ford in an attempt to transition to a younger audience. With the movie being critically panned, they may have pumped the breaks on changing the lead role. Then of course, Disney purchased Lucasfilms and took ownership of the franchise.

There’s rumblings of the next film being in production and a script being written. Much like the Star Wars franchise, Ford could return to turn the franchise over to the next actor to carry the torch.

Right now, Tom Holland works well as the lovable Peter Parker but soon will need to transition to more adult roles. His baby face makes him perfect to fill that high school/teen angst-y role, but he could easily make a smooth transition. Starting him as a younger Indiana Jones and carrying the franchise for years to come would be the perfect opportunity. Too bad it’s up to Disney to make that happen. He’s got the star power, they just need to pull the trigger.
