Top 5 Free Agent Wide Receivers and Where They’ll Land

Green Bay Packers

There is no shortage of teams needing playmakers on offense this NFL season. With wide receiver the top need, here are our top 5 free agent wide receivers of 2019:

Golden Tate: Philadelphia Eagles

Most potential: New England Patriots.

Outside Chance: Philadelphia Eagles.

The New England Patriots will yet again be in need of a wide receiver this offseason. With Cordarrelle Patterson, Chris Hogan, and Phillip Dorsett all set to become free agents the team isn’t likely to bring all, or any, of them back. With the exception of the occasional flashy play from Hogan, none have fully utilized their time in New England. The Patriots don’t often overspend in free agency, but a 30-year old wide receiver who consistently has 1,000 yards could come at just enough value to pull the trigger.

Devin Funchess – Carolina Panthers

Most Likely: Oakland Raiders

Outside Chance: Miami Dolphins

With Martavis Bryant’s suspension in Oakland and an offense struggling to gain some footing, the Raiders will be in the market for a wide receiver. At 6’4 and 225 lbs, there’s always a need for a bigger body receiver who’s just about to turn 25. Funchess has yet to hit his ceiling and might not come at too high of a cost. Teams like the rebuilding Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders might want to target a playmaker looking to get himself and the team to the next level.

Donte Moncrief – Jacksonville Jaguars

Most Likely: Dallas Cowboys

Outside Chance: Carolina Panthers

Donte Moncrief has had untapped potential so far in his NFL career. He has the ability to make big plays but has been limited on struggling offenses with the Colts and Jaguars. While he’s not the biggest receiver on the field, he’s also not the smallest and he’s shifty enough to get open. Teams like the Dallas Cowboys who have Tavon Austin and Cole Beasley set to hit the free agent market might test the water. If a team like the Carolina Panthers let a Devin Funchess walk, they might want to replace him with another talented wide receiver still in their prime.

Randall Cobb – Green Bay Packers

Most Likely: Green Bay Packers

Outside Chance: Arizona Cardinals

It’s almost insane to think the Green Bay Packers would let a wide receiver with star power move on. However, that’s exactly what they did last year with Jordy Nelson. While Nelson might be a little older, Green Bay might need to shake up their stalling ways. At 29, Cobb might not be the youngest guy on the field but he’s hardly past his prime. The Packers might offer him a short term deal to keep chemistry with Aaron Rodgers or they might track a youth movement in the draft. Look for a young team like the Arizona Cardinals to kick tires on veteran leadership like Cobb to compliment Larry Fitzgerald on the opposite side of the field.

Tyrell Williams – Los Angeles Chargers

Most Likely: Buffalo Bills

Outside Chance: San Fransisco 49ers

Tyrell Williams looked to be a break out star for the Chargers but took a step back in 2018. After being buried on the depth chart by veteran Keenan Allen and Mike Williams Tyrell fell off in an already high powered offense. Teams like the Buffalo Bills who have been searching for a playmaker on offense could seek out his services. The 49ers have been whispered to have interest in troubled receiver Antonio Brown, but if they’re in the market as well, could go for a cheaper option if Brown doesn’t fall in their lap.
