Vin Diesel will be the hottest actor in 2017
Hollywood is a weird place. Actors can go from low-budget films to remote location films, from straight to DVD to Oscar-worthy movies overnight. Then you have those actors that find a niche and it just sticks. Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Cruise are versatile enough to go from action to comedy then hit you with a romantic gem all in the same year. But, then you have that one actor that all studios have on speed dial that will bring the heat when called upon. This generation has Vin Diesel.
When Diesel is mentioned the first thing that comes to mind is the Fast & Furious franchise and rightfully so. How can you deny his star power when it helped what was to be a push-over movie grow eight strong and gross almost $4 billion dollars worldwide? How many Oscar-winning actors can say they have that kind of drawing power?
Diesel has now stepped into the big leagues after the Riddick movies. He’s now part of the Marvel Universe as the voice of Groot in a movie that grossed over $330 million at the box office. To make his star power even bigger he will star in The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which will hit theaters this year and we can expect higher numbers as the Marvel Universe gets set for the epic showdown in The Avengers: Infinity Wars which will double what Guardians will do.
He may not be a Red Carpet mainstay but to say that Diesel is not an A-list actor is downright disrespectful. Ask the Fast & Furious franchise how important he is. When he left for two movies the franchise nearly fell into a deep hole. But when he came back at the end of Tokyo Drift fans were ecstatic as he pulled up in his muscle car.
But, as big as he is now, 2017 will be the year he really explodes. Fast 8 hits theaters along with Guardians 2 and another installment of the action-packed franchise XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Fans are foaming at the mouth for all three highly anticipated films. The Rock is a huge draw but Fast is about Dominic Toretto.
Diesel will pull off the trifecta of huge movies in 2017. And while you spend your hard-earned money on whatever disaster of a film Cruise or George Clooney releases, you can take solace in knowing I’m enjoying myself at the latest Diesel premiere.
