The Sacramento Kings need to put a focus on Nikola Vucevic this off-season. Signing the Orlando Magic big man should be their primary objective. He’s a proven double- double machine who can help the Sacramento Kings in a lot of areas. Why is his signing in Sacramento of so much importance?

A lot of Vucevic’s game goes unnoticed in Orlando. He’s consistently one of the NBA’s best bigs. Despite being an All-Star, most don’t care to recognize his talent. That’s not fair to him. He’s as dominant of an offensive force as anyone standing at the center position.

Here’s where the Sacramento Kings play into the Vucevic off-season sweepstakes. They need an offensively capable big man that’s not afraid to go and get the big rebounds. Willie Cauley-Stein is about as inconsistent as they come. His effort on a night to night basis can be questioned.

Vucevic, who has played on some very poor Orlando Magic squads, doesn’t take games off. He’s battling every possession and always manages to get his 20 points and 10+ boards per night. That’s what the Kings need at center. Someone like Cauley-Stein isn’t going to win titles.

What most fail to realize, Vucevic is a solid defender. The Magic are +10.3 while he’s on the court. The Kings are getting quality minutes out of Cauley-Stein, just not enough. WCS will come up with the big block when needed. The same can be said for Vucevic, though, and he’ll play hard every possession.

There is one area of concern. Vucevic doesn’t fit in with the Kings high-octane play. He’s not going to run the floor on the fast break. One thing Cauley-Stein is good at, running the fastbreak. That’s a big part of the Kings offense. While Vucevic is good, he’ll struggle to keep up with the team at the pace the Kings play.

Vucevic is going to be 29 at the beginning of the season. He’ll be starting his slow decline. You can’t expect him to be running the floor with the likes of De’Aaron Fox. Still, with the skill he possesses, Sacramento would be fools to not take the chance on Nilola Vucevic. At some point the Kings will slow down the offensive tempo. That’s where Vucevic will shine brightest.

The heart and soul of the Orlando Magic, Nikola Vucevic is going to get paid this off-season. He’ll probably command close to max money. The Sacramento Kings have the ability to sign him. Vlade Divac needs to work his magic (pun intended) to get Vucevic in a Kings jersey next season..
