WandaVision: No Matter What, Wanda Is Not The Enemy
“Never Doubt Marvel” should be printed on t-shirts, coffee mugs, and in all college syllabus’. With tons of movies and TV shows under their belt, their place should not be challenged. And yet it was with the first three episodes of their new show WandaVision. It’s not saying that WandaVision was horrible, it just didn’t measure up to Marvel standards until the end of Episode 3.
But then episode 4 dropped and everything changed. The criticism it garnered early should be wiped away and a new outlook on the storyline should give fans the insight they need as Marvel begins their Phase 4.
But one thing that viewers may have trouble coming to terms with is Wanda aka Scarlett Witch herself.
When Wanda confronted Geraldine in Episode 3, that was the old Wanda before she became an Avenger. The look in her eyes when Geraldine mentions her brother and Ultron painted Wanda as a villain. To her credit, she doesn’t know Geraldine but the mention of her brother’s death took Wanda to a place viewers were afraid she couldn’t return from.

There was hated and evil in her eyes but it was understandably so. Geraldine brought up a painful event from the past and Wanda wanted answers. She just gave birth to a set of twins with a stranger’s help and that didn’t sit right with Wanda.
Fast forward to Episode 4 and from the outside looking in, Wanda can be pegged as a villain. She created a town so that no one could get in or out. In the eyes of the Government, that’s a big no-no. So, that leaves Wanda as some sort of villain here as she has blocked off the rest of the world.
S.W.O.R.D may know Wanda from her pre-Infinity War and Endgame days but do they really see her as a threat? Geraldine knows who she is and that’s a reason why she was never scared of Wanda. Think about it. She had the chance to confront her but never did. It wasn’t because of her powers, Geraldine understands that Wanda is one of the good guys. But does everyone else share Geraldine’s vision of Wanda?
There will come a time when S.W.O.R.D. enters Westview and attempts to take Wanda down. What type of show would this be without some sort of major conflict? When this does happen, fans must remember that no matter how Marvel tries to spin in, especially in the first season, we must remember that Wanda aka Scarlett Witch is not the enemy. She’s protecting her family and her memories.
