Bridge the Gap?
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been the ultimate placeholder in his career. He won’t be mentioned in the “greatest ever” debate but he doesn’t get enough credit for making bad teams competitive. Between every bad AFC East team he’s been on and every stop in between, he’s gone to where he’s asked to do the impossible and then moves on. “He’s never lead a team to the playoffs” will be the trumpet of the nay-sayers, but he’s always gone to 1-2 win teams and got them close to 8-8 and sometimes better. Washington Football Team won 7 games last season with a lot of talent on board. Can he get them to double-digit wins?
No Easy Start
If you go by the records for last season, the easiest games before their bye week would be division rival Giants, then the Falcons, and Broncos. There was a lot of retooling this offseason so even those “easy” games won’t be a sure thing. They might go into their bye week with a losing record if the team can’t gel quickly.
Playoff Defenders
After the time off, they’ll face playoff contenders from last season in 2 of their first three games. Other than the Panthers, each team after that was pushing for a playoff spot last season as well. While the Washington Football Team actually made the playoffs last season, it wasn’t exactly something to be proud of with a losing record.
