We’re Still In The Dark On Disney’s Hollywood Studios New Runaway Railway Attraction
Galaxy’s Edge has had its moment in the spotlight. Walt Disney World needs to turn its attention to Mickey’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With this expected to open in 2019, we’ve yet to receive any real information about the ride. What’s the hold-up, Disney?
Runaway Railway will be taking the place of Great Movie Ride. This won’t be easy for Disney’s newest creation. GMR was the most iconic attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios history. Runaway Railway is the first Disney ride to feature Mickey Mouse. RR should have no issue being as popular and beloved as its predecessor.
We still don’t know much about Runaway Railway. We’ve heard tidbits about the ride when it was first announced. It’s going to be a 2.5D experience. That’s a very strange concept. Nobody really knows what that means. It’s a very intriguing idea that many are anxiously awaiting.
Runaway Railway will be based off the new Mickey cartoons. These have a very old school feel to them. It’s hard for some to get on board with this. We have grown accustomed to the classic Mickey in the theme parks. That’s such a minimal issue, though.
Any other information about Runaway Railway has been kept under wraps. There’s yet to be any news about ride opening, ride vehicles, ride length, just nothing. Was the construction delayed for some reason? Is that why it has taken so long?
Great Movie Ride wasn’t a ride that could be stripped down in a month. It was expected to take a while to finish that project. Disney crews likely went in right after the ride was completely gutted and started work on Runaway Railway. Without knowing how long anything has taken, it’s impossible to know how far along they are with the new attraction.
Mickey’s Runaway Railway isn’t as big of a deal as Galaxy’s Edge. This is still a high-capacity ride that will eat up some of the crowds of the park. It’s a foregone conclusion this is going to be an amazing attraction. It would just be nice if we got some news and information about the newest adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
