What DC Fandome Needs to Bring the Buzz

DC Fandome poster

DC Fandome is just over a week away. With comic cons canceled left and right the fan event brings also the excitement to the online fan event. 24 hours of fan inclusive entertainment is sure to bring energy and excitement to fans.

From DCComics.com

“DC FanDome is a first-of-its-kind, immersive global fan experience in nine languages featuring exclusive reveals with our biggest stars across the DC Multiverse—free for all fans to join for 24-hours only on August 22nd. No lines, no badges—you won’t want to miss it!”

From fan art to panels, announcing the up-and-coming movies and shows the event should have it all. To hear’’s what were looking forward to/hoping for so far.

In no particular order.

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam

The Rock has been attached to this project for years. With the success of Shazam, it only strengthened our excitement for Black Adam. Its been a while since Johnson has been in a movie without the hype and this one should be no different. Black Adam might not be a large part of the DC Universe to some, but seeing Shazam and other characters brought to the big screen is long overdue. Too long have we been stuck with just Batman and Superman.

Nightwing

Does anyone remember when DC announced they’re going forward with a Nightwing movie? It seemed so long ago. Maybe they pivoted with DC Universe’s Titans but with that project on its last leg, we’re hoping to see this member of the Bat-family on the big screen. Dick Greyson is a fan favorite and seeing him as the sidekick Robin robs audiences of some of Batman’s better stories.

Henry Cavill Back As Superman

While the DCEU has got mixed results, none of it should be blamed on Cavill. He’s got the look of Superman. He’s all over Mission Impossible films and other action projects. Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher was a huge success. Clearly, Cavill can bring in an audience. What DC/AT&T/WarnerMedia needs to promote are the characters that mirror the comic book counterparts. If they’re going forward with the extended universe, then Cavill should be a huge part of it.

The Suicide Squad Teaser

When we found out that James Gunn was going to take over The Suicide Squad soft reboot, we couldn’t have been more excited. Guardians of the Galaxy were fun and entertaining and with a similar tone to Suicide Squad, it was the perfect match. He’s all over social media interacting with fans and answering questions. Now we want a peek at Fandome.

Casting announcements

What makes Marvel so successful at San Diego comic con is not only their trailers, but they make most of their announcements on who will play the heroes in upcoming films. Most recently they announced that Natalie Portman would be returning to the Thor franchise to take on the Jane Foster version of the hero. DC needs to pull out the big guns as well.

Who is cast in the Green Lantern show for HBO Max? Who will be the villains in the announced Flash standalone? Matt Ryan returning as John Constantine for the live-action Justice League Dark show for HBO Max. Ya know, those kinds of things.

If DC wants s to truly get to the same level as Marvel has with their blockbusters, they need to get fans excited about these projects. The lack of promoting and buzz for their films have been weak as hell. Marvel loves to push energy and fan engagement. DC only puts the effort, and barely, into their trailers, and that’s all. Hopefully, these changes starting this year.
