What Is The Worst Las Vegas Rollercoaster?

The Las Vegas Strip is paradise to many. What tourists seem to forget is that Sin City is home to a few rollercoasters, although, they are some of the worst in North America. That’s not an understatement. What’s the worst coaster in Vegas?

In the heart of Las Vegas, there are 3 major rollercoasters. The Big Apple Coaster at the New York New, York Hotel and Casino is the most well-known. Meanwhile, El Loco and Canyon Blaster at the Circus Circus Adventuredome aren’t as iconic. For the sake of this worst coaster argument, we’ll take out El Loco because it is indeed a halfway decent coaster.

Taking out El Loco, this leaves us with The Big Apple and Canyon Blaster as the two nominees for worst on the strip. Both are flat out miserable experiences for anyone. There are a few positives to each which set them apart from each other. However, when it comes down to it, those positives are few and far between.

Let’s start with Canyon Blaster. This is an Arrow Dynamics Custom Looping Coaster.  Settled inside the Adventuredome, it doesn’t seem like much at first glance. The second half of the 41mph coaster takes place inside of a makeshift canyon. While this sounds exciting, it’s not. Canyon Blaster is by far one of the roughest coasters I’ve ever experienced. A lot of the intrigue and mystique of this is lost because it is almost unbearable to ride.

Next, The Big Apple Coaster at the New York New York Hotel and Casino. This is one of the most well-themed coasters in the world. Manufactured by Togo, this 1997 coaster isn’t as good as the theming makes it out to be. Like Canyon Blaster, this is extremely rough.

Both of these coasters are painful to ride but both have some good theming. Big Apple Coaster is much more elaborate, giving it the edge there. However, where it loses a lot of its appeal is the price per ride.

Admission to unlimited rides at the Adventuredome can cost about $30-$40. That gives you as many rides on Canyon Blaster (and El Loco) as you wish. Big Apple Coaster can cost as much as $20. That’s just for one ride. You’ll get more bang for your buck at the Adevnturedome. However, in a city like Vegas, money isn’t primarily a concern.

If you’re comparing the two based on ride experience, and not price, they are both incredibly poor. I’ve done these coasters once each. That was more than enough for me. Saying you’ve ridden them is the only redeeming factor of these coasters. If you actually enjoy either you’re out of your damn mind.

Coaster fanatics will have varying opinions on what’s worse. Arrow loopers like Canyon Blaster have a special place in the hearts of many. I don’t see that at all with this coaster. Big Apple Coaster is the more iconic coaster. And it’s a much more rewarding experience. You get great views of the Veags strip.

To answer the question I asked at the beginning, they both suck. Put a gun to my head, Big Apple Coaster is the best of the two. Don’t think for a second that means this is a good ride. It is just not the worse of the two. You’re probably going to regret riding either of these.
