What Type Of Coaster Could Universal Orlando Islands Of Adventure Be Cooking Up In Jurassic Park?

There’s a new coaster coming to Islands of Adventure. It’s not Harry Potter related at all. Indeed, the long-rumored Jurassic World coaster is on its way to Universal Orlando. What kind of coaster will it be?

1. RMC Raptor- Seeing as the model of this coaster is Raptor, it makes perfect sense. The single-rail model is mostly made for smaller parks. Six Flags Fiesta Texas and California Great America got the first two, but a park such as Universal would never get one of these. Capacity issues would be a nightmare. It’s a nice thought, but not likely. (Although, never say never)

2. RMC T-Rex- The “beefed” up version of the Raptor, the T-Rex might be a possibility. It’s got a much higher capacity than the Raptor model. The model name, T-Rex, fits Jurassic Park perfectly. Above all else, it’s something different. Universal would be one of the first to have a coaster like this. What’s best is we don’t know how good or massive a coaster like this can be. It’s the unknown which makes this one so intriguing.

3. Intamin Blitz- Like Taron and Maverick, a new Jurassic Park coaster could come at you Fast and Furious (no pun intended). These coasters are full of quick twists and turns, speed, and immense themeing. We know any Jurassic Park coaster will have some exterior work done to it. Imagine this looking as good as Taron or Maverick. A lot depends on the Harry Potter coaster. Will two similar Intamins be a smart move for Universal?

4. GCI Woodie- This has been the rumor for quite some time. Universal has numerous steel coasters, but, they’ve got no wooden coasters. GCI displayed some new layouts last year at IAPPA. There might not be a more perfect place to debut their new model than Universal. The big question is will this be a family or extreme wooden coaster? Seeing as Universal Orlando is more of a thrill seekers park, I’d not be surprised if it’s more on the extreme side, especially with Gwazi at Busch Gardens being the fancy new wooden-hybrid on the market.

5. B&M Launched Flyer- Universal Studios Japan already has a flying coaster themed to Jurassic Park. Orlando has one flying coaster in Manta at Sea World. Why not up the ante and create a launched flyer? Phantsialand is getting one of these from Vekoma in 2019. Knowing Universal, they’ll want to do one of their own. B&M is itching to get to work on something big like this. Seeing as the coaster goes over water, this will give a great sensation of flying like a pterodactyl.

So many possibilities for a new Jurassic Park coaster. While these are likely scenarios for Universal, there are a lot more that could be contenders. With the Harry Potter coaster coming in 2019, Universal Orlando is stepping up their game to compete with Walt Disney World’s and Busch Gardens Tampa’s new coaster offerings. Whatever they’ve got up their sleeves, surely it will deliver.
